With Teachers’ Day around the corner, the HPPA offered to help HPPS prepare for the celebrations. We were given the task of decorating the backdrop of the stage in the school hall. Planning work started before National Day and the preparations were done over 2 mornings in mid-August. A total of 25 parent volunteers (PV)s, led by Yvonne Choo and Evelyn Chan, were involved. This enthusiastic group of parent volunteers comprised mostly of HPPS mummies, including two HPPS daddies. Outstandingly, one of the daddies made and brought cupcakes for the group of PVs.
The stage decorations were finally put up on 1 Sep.
And the results were amazing!
This “Teachers’ Day Gift” by HPPS parents touched the teachers very much. Some teachers sent in praises describing it as “Beautiful” and “Professionally done”. Mr Chia, HPPS’ Principal, was equally impressed and appreciative of the PVs’ efforts and highlighted this in his blog.
Teachers’ Day – Appreciation Tree
Separately, the same PVs also put up an “Appreciation Tree” next to the General Office on level 3. Children were invited during their recess time (from 11 to 13 Aug) to pen down appreciation notes for their teachers, and these notes are displayed on the Appreciation Tree.
